Mary-Anne"I’m 54 and have been pretty active and health conscious for my entire adult life. I lift weights, walk, play pickleball, and cycle. Despite that, I’ve gained almost thirty pounds in the last two years. None of my previous strategies were working to get back on track…I changed my diet (WFPB) and started working out more (every day for at least an hour) to no avail. Instead, I felt constantly drained of energy and was utterly overwhelmed by my inability to control the levers that manage my health and well-being. Out of desperation, I found Lisa’s website and booked a free call.
I have to admit I was terrified by what I heard because I grew up ‘knowing’ that eating less and working out more causes weight to fall off, and Lisa was asking me to believe that exercising less and eating more nutritionally targeted foods could help me lose weight, gain muscle, and feel energized while still feeling full. I wasn’t sure about that; but I was convinced that Lisa is an expert in her field so I held my breath and jumped in. That commitment was the single best self-care decision I’ve made for myself since turning 50. Honestly, I thought I could lose some stubborn pounds, but I didn’t believe that I would achieve - much less exceed - my goals just a little more than halfway through the program. Yet, with Lisa’s guidance, I have learned a self-care recipe that works for my personal health and wellness. I’ve learned to adopt a new lifestyle with healthy habits that support my physical and mental transformation without feeling like I’m depriving myself of anything. The secret sauce? Trust (in Lisa and her methods) and consistency (in following the process). What I love most about the program is how Lisa gives me all of the tools I need to create a self-care recipe that works for my own personal growth. From the weekly group meetings, to the private Facebook page, and the abundance of video and .pdf resources in the app, I feel completely supported by Lisa and the rest of her clients. She is extremely responsive and holds me accountable. I’m now leaner, healthier, and much happier. Lisa is the lifeline I needed, and this program has given me the self-confidence to believe that I can go beyond my initial goal AND maintain my new lifestyle. Tammy"I was overweight, working long hours and not really looking at myself because clothes can hide a lot. Suddenly I realized I was at my highest pregnancy weight and that was 20+ years ago!! So I tried by myself but couldn't move the scale. I needed to do something different. I looked online and saw Body & Soul. I liked what I read and called. Cheryl"I had just about given up trying to lose weight when I again connected with Lisa. I trained with her over 15 years ago and did well. Then life with three children got in the way. Each new decade brought another 5- 7 lbs. My doctor said not to worry. This is supposed to happen. Then COVID hit and another 5 lbs came on. I was done! I could not stand to have the weight on my body but I didn't know what to do. I went the traditional route of seeing a nutritionist per the recommendation of my doctor, who was still not concerned about my weight gain. The nutritionist told me I wasn't eating enough for my metabolic rate (measured by some crazy machine). Upped my calories by about 500 per day. And of course that led to more weight gain even as I continued 3- 4 cardio workouts a week.
Lisa changed all of the spiraling I was doing. She showed me how to adjust my macronutrients to what my body needed to lose the weight. Then she added weight lifting into my workouts. She made me see how important building muscle is to weight loss. Balancing life is also discussed since stress also plays a huge role in weight gain. After completing the 12 Week Program I have lost 13lbs and am going to keep going as a member! I am looking forward to continuing this journey. Lisa really helped me change those limiting beliefs!" |
ugochi"For most of my life, I have been able to maintain my weight, through running, exercise, and watching what I ate. I turned 50 in 2020 and I started to notice a bulge in my stomach and love handles. No matter what I did I was unable to get rid of the pouch. I also noticed a gradual weight gain and I stopped weighing myself. Nothing worked anymore - not exercise, not eating less.
In March after a weigh-in, I realized that I needed the help of a nutritionist. Nothing was working despite what I considered to be a healthy diet and an active lifestyle. I had gained about 17 pounds from my ideal weight. I took to Google to search for Nutritionists that worked with women over 50 and found Lisa. Since I had nothing to lose, I scheduled a consultation with her, to learn how she could help me. Lisa took the time to explain that my weight gain was hormonal. I liked that she asked questions to understand my lifestyle and where I was on the journey. I loved her positive attitude and the fact that she focused on mindset. I decided immediately to work with her. The program sounded amazing but I worried that I would not be able to keep up with the workouts. I also had concerns about how restrictive my diet would be. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I did not feel deprived at all. I never felt hungry and I lost all cravings for savory snacks. I had heard about the role of protein in weight loss, but I had no idea how to include the right levels of protein in my diet. I have learned so much in the short time I have worked with Lisa. I tried everything on my own, but with Lisa’s help, I began to see results. The workouts are challenging but I am getting stronger each day. I love that I have the expertise of a nutritionist and a personal trainer in one person. I have been working with Lisa for two months and in that time I have lost 11.4 pounds and several inches. I now believe that it is possible to be strong and maintain a healthy weight over 50. Lisa is amazing. Whatever your concerns, she will work with you to address them. A 'spare tire' around my waist had crept up to the point where none of my clothes fit, and I was really frustrated. I tried various programs on my own but none of them yielded the results I was looking for. 16 weeks later I am 9 pounds lighter with 9 inches lost, and I am wearing a smaller jeans size than I did ten years ago. I’m so glad I listened to my inner self. To date, I’m down 7 lbs. and it’s only the first week. (Keep in mind, muscle weighs more than fat!)
